On March 27, the Cameron School of Business Center for Sales Excellence and Customer Delight held its first "Sales Enablement Technologies & Trends" forum. From 6:00 – 8:00 pm, representatives from major local companies Nutanix, SAS, The Hana Group, AI Bridge and Syneos Health shared their experiences on current sales enablement technologies and best practices.

Cameron School of Business' Center for Sales Excellence & Customer Delight held their inaugural Internal Sales Contest hosted at nCino Friday, March 1, 2019. The role-play competition pitted 21 marketing & sales business students of Cameron School of Business to create a customized pitch to actual sales representatives of local business nCino. The winner, Sean Butler, received a $1,000 scholarship for the upcoming academic year. Brian Whitman and Ruben Gil also were awarded prizes for second and third place. Congratulations!

UNCW Accepted as Associate Member of the USCA

UNCW Center for Sales Excellence and Customer Delight has officially been accepted as an Associate Member of the University Sales Center Alliance. The USCA is a consortium of sales centers connecting university faculty members with many different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Together, these credible and innovative educators advocate for the continuing advancement of the sales profession through teaching, research and outreach. Per USCA's website, "Members of the University Sales Center Alliance have blazed the trail in sales education, helping thousands of college students develop into highly successful sales professionals and providing the talent pool for many of the nation’s most successful corporations. Our vision is to be recognized as the international leader and standard bearer for increasing the prestige and credibility of the sales profession."

Business Week is a Hit for CSB Sales Students

CSB Sales students LOVE this time of year. They get to mingle, network, ask questions and attend business sessions from successful business professionals in the Wilmington area and beyond. From entrepreneurial small-business to Fortune 250 Corporations, business week provides phenomenal business leaders to come share what it takes to be in the position they are in now.  

Business week allows students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-life examples from professionals working in industries and companies CSB student's dream of being apart of. We love to see students packed into a room listening attentively to hear stories from CSB alumni about tips, tricks, failures, and experiences. It is very exciting to look at the speakers and along with a great title and company, “CSB Alumni” follows. This gives students motivation to see where hard work can lead them to after college.

It is exciting to network, meet and experience speakers share stories, failures, and opportunities they have crossed along the way to find success in their specific industry. Listening to speakers from different industries may spark a new interest in careers students might not have thought much about. Business Week is a very special time of year for CSB students! Although so many speakers are packed into two days students see this as a very valuable amount of time to engage, learn and network with many business professionals.

New Advanced Selling Class to be Offered Next Fall by Professor Mark Pelletier

The new UNCW Advanced Sales course will build off the concepts and knowledge in the existing Professional Sales class such as sales theory, identifying customer needs, prospecting, and emotional intelligence. By focusing on adaptive selling and interaction between the students and sales practitioners, the Advanced Sales class raises the level of expectation and engagement.  Students will be engaging in role-play exercises concentrating on concepts such as overcoming objections, closing the sale, team selling, and dealing with demanding customers.

The advanced selling class will give UNCW students more of an edge entering the workforce. By engaging with sales professionals, students can align the theory and study found in the classroom with real-world examples from actual practitioners and gain actionable feedback. The UNCW Advanced Sales class will emphasize the skills necessary to have our students focused on closing the sale and building relationships.

December 2017:

CSB Students Visit NYC for Networking and Job Exploration

CSB Marketing concentration students visited New York City over December 12-15, 2017 to visit local firms for job and internship prospecting, as well as mingle with CSB alumni at a mixer. This trip is offered each year to students in the Economics and Finance, Marketing and International Business concentrations.

Luke Barcley and friends in NYC, December 2017About the trip, senior Luke Barcley says, "New York gave me a great understanding of what it would take to work at the large, well known firm, like the places we toured. It helped me see that those positions are attainable even though I didn't go to a prestigious university. But more importantly it helped me see that there was not going to be a way to succeed at those type of jobs without a lot of hard work. That was the main point of a lot of of the talks and my conversations with alumni. So even if I don't end up in New York, I know the amount of hard work it will take to compete with those people who work in in New York City. Overall it was a great experience."
