Location Information:

Barbados is the easternmost island in the eastern Caribbean, located approximately 660 miles northeast of Venezuela. With a land area of only 166 square miles, Barbados is a relatively small island. The University of the West Indies (UWI) is a multi-campus regional university serving the English-speaking Caribbean. Poised on a hill overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the UWI Cave Hill Campus in Barbados is a leader in tertiary education and academic excellence both regionally and internationally. From their campus home, students will be able to explore the island during their free time. Barbados offers an array of diverse landscapes and beautiful beaches. Recreational opportunities include surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, exploring the city, or enjoying a wide variety of restaurants and clubs.

Program Duration


  • Program Overview: Students will be immersed in campus life at the University of the West Indies – Cave Hill. Along with classroom learning, several experiential trips are included in the cost of the program, including an island tour, a visit to the Barbados Central Bank and Barbados Stock Exchange, and a snorkeling trip in Carlysle Bay Marine Park. Students can also travel to the popular south coast, Harrison’s Cave, Banks Breweries, St. Nicholas Abby (a 17th century sugar plantation) and Bathsheba, the location of the world renowned Soupbowl surf break.
