If so, consider this opportunity to serve as a peer leader in the CSB.

Senior Peer Advisor

Responsibilities of Senior Peer Advisors

  • Paid position, 5 hours per week
  • Hold drop-in peer advising hours (1-hour per week) to answer questions about classes and registration for students in ECN, FIN, or MKT
  • Work on projects with a team to ensure the advising process enables the most students have the best access to information
  • Join the department faculty advisors for group advising session
  • Represent the department at UNCW majors fair, Seahawk Saturday, and other recruiting events as schedules allow

Junior Peer Advisor

Responsibilities of Junior Peer Advisors

  • Leadership Opportunity, 1 hour per week
  • 1 hour DIS course - first half of semester
  • Hold drop-in peer advising hours (1-hour per week) to answer questions about classes and registration for students in ECN, FIN, or MKT - second half of semester
  • Join the department faculty advisors for at least one group advising session
  • Represent the department at UNCW majors fair, Seahawk Saturday, and other recruiting events as schedules allow

Expectations

Peer advisors are expected to:

  1. Assist students in understanding degree requirements
  2. Assist in choosing appropriate academic schedules
  3. Connect students to campus resources
  4. Serve as good listeners and offer ideas as appropriate
  5. Submit completed meeting notes to the department chair
  6. Work with department chairs to resolve any issues
