Human Resource Management Concentration
People are a company's greatest asset, and managers should take proactive steps to keep their workforce satisfied and motivated. The HR option equips students with the skills needed to maximize the efforts and productivity of human resources through recruitment and retention, organizational design, training and development, diversity, performance management, and assessment.
This concentration option provides courses recommended by SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) to sit for the national certification exam, and its curriculum is designed to align with the recommended requirements for HR degree programs as outlined in the SHRM HR curriculum guidebook and templates.

All of the above classes are CSB Restricted.
Students pursuing this option cannot also pursue an option in Management and Leadership or Entrepreneurship and Business Development.
Human Resource Association:
The Human Resource Association has a broad and actively engaged membership. It is a major source for people building strong competency and developing the talent and leadership of people in our organization. The club participates in regional and state competitions sponsored by our professional organization, Society for Human Resources Management.
UNCW HRA, the student group representing the Human Resource Management majors in CSB, achieved the SHRM Superior Merit Award for the 2017-2018 school year. SHRM is the National Society for Human Resource Management and this very prestigious award recognizes student chapters for outstanding activities and projects. Congratulations!
