CFA Institute Scholarships

As a CFA Institute Recognized University, the UNCW Cameron School of Business, Department of Economics & Finance is pleased to offer up to FIVE reduced-fee scholarships for students in their last year of undergraduate study who wish to register for the June 2018 Level I Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. 

OVERVIEW:

The scholarship covers the one-time CFA Program enrollment fee and reduces the exam registration fee to $350 (includes access to the curriculum eBook). Recipients of the scholarship may only apply it towards the upcoming June exam.

Please note: students who have registered at full price for the June 2017 are eligible for the scholarship, and the difference in registration cost will be refunded by CFA Institute.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Application deadline: 5:00 PM Monday, 2 October 2017
  • Awards announced by 5:00 p.m. Monday, 10 October 2017
  • Registration submitted to CFA Institute by 5:00 p.m., Friday, 20 October (NOTE: Scholarships submitted to CFA Institute require payment of $350 at time of submission via credit card).
  • Exam date: Saturday, 23 June 2018 (six-hour CFA exam) Exam may be taken in many major cities around the globe.

TO APPLY:

Please submit a printed application containing the following:

  • Name
  • Student ID number
  • Expected graduation date
  • CSB concentration
  • Overall GPA
  • A statement describing why a CFA designation would assist you in achieving your professional goals (max 150 words)
  • A specific time plan as to how you would accomplish 400 hours of self-directed study by 23 June 2018. (Experience suggests that much less than 400 hours of preparation will not achieve successful exam results)

If you are awarded the scholarship, then to enroll in the CFA Program and register for the exam, you must:

  • Have an international travel passport
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or be in the final year of your bachelor’s degree program (you will be required to update your education information before you can register for Level II)
