The Information Systems and Master of Computer Science Information System (MS CSIS) Advisory Board works to improve the quality of our graduates in order that they are sought by employers.
The board currently is comprised of 25 executives of the business community from the Information Technology professional fields.
Mission
The IS / CIT / MS CSIS Advisory Board works to improve the quality of the undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition, the board provides for the exchange of emerging issues of concern to Information Technology professionals in the UNCW service area and increases faculty awareness of current trends in industry.

Advisory Board Goals
Increase the quality of our undergraduate and graduate students by:- Enhancing opportunities for internships between industry and IS and MS CSIS
- Periodically reviewing the current undergraduate and graduate curriculum to insure relevance and currency to the business community needs
- Encouraging presentations by business professionals in the classroom
- Providing a conduit for our students to meet industry professionals
- Increasing student participation in real world projects with industry and faculty guidance
- Increase the value of membership for our corporate members by:
- Providing access to our best students for internships and employment
- Being a conduit for the Wilmington Information Technology and Operations Management community to share best practices
- Encouraging special interest groups that meet between meetings
- Continually review and disseminate the list of current job skills and technologies needed by employers
- Ensure faculty obtains practical awareness of technology environments, changes, and growth:
- Increasing tours of local facilities
- Developing research opportunities and/or summer faculty internships with industry
- Building a process to share industry expertise with faculty and likewise faculty expertise with local industry
- Act as a conduit for the Wilmington area Information Technology community by:
- Coordinate events to bring the Wilmington IT professionals together
- Provide a means for local IT professionals to share ideas
- Actively recruit smaller and entrepreneur IT professionals in the UNCW service area
