About Bremen

With a population of approximately 500,000 Bremen is an ideal place to spend a summer session.  

Location in Germany:  As you can see in the adjoining map, Bremen is located in the northwest part of Germany near the coast.

Location in Europe:  Germany is located in the heart of Europe.  South of Scandinavia, East of  the Netherlands and France, West of the Czech Republic and North of  Switzerland and Italy.  With its central location in Europe Bremen provides a great jumping off point for weekend trips to places like Amsterdam, Prague, Paris and Berlin.

Transportation:  There is an Airport in Bremen with connections to many major airports.  Bremen is also a Ryan Air airport which offers deeply discounted flights to places all over Europe.

The German rail system is outstanding and many students opt to use the trains for their weekend travel.  One option is a Eurrail pass.

Temperature and Weather:  As a result of its location Bremen is a great place to beat the heat of a North Carolina Summer.  In fact, you would prefer that it doesn't get too hot, because most German buildings (including your hotel and the University) do not have air conditioning. 

Bremen offers all the attractions of a large metropolitan area and yet retains the charm of 1,200 year old city. The Hochschule Bremen where students take classes is located on the Weser river near the city center district. There are an enormous variety of restaurants and nightlife options for students when they are not attending class, including the “Schlachte” the famous bier garden located along the river. With its central location in Europe Bremen provides a great jumping off point for weekend trips to places like Amsterdam, Paris and Berlin.
